National Artist Program

Team Newfoundland and Labrador National Artist's Program participants:

Luke Lawrence

Luke Lawrence is a 20-year-old actor from St. John’s, NL, who has recently studied with Lewis Baumander, Michael Armstrong, and Sears & Switzer in Toronto. His film credits include work with established directors such as John N. Smith (Love & Savagery, Random Passage), Robert Knoll (The Hill), Mary Lewis (When Ponds Freeze Over, Genie Award for Best Live Action 1998), and Mary Walsh (Young Triffie) as well as emerging directors like Rob Blackie (Quiet at Dawn, Directors Guild of Canada Best Short Film 2010), Ruth Lawrence (BARK), and Mark Hoffe (Snarbuckled). He worked with writer/director Berni Stapleton developing a theatre work for young people called Message from the Future commissioned by the Department of Justice. At Holy Heart High School, he took part in theatre courses and productions.

Meagan Musseau

Meagan Musseau is 21 year-old visual artist from Corner Brook and a graduate from the College of the North Atlantic with a Visual Arts Diploma. She is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus in Corner Brook, NL, where she is in her second year of the Visual Arts program, with major studios in Printmaking, Art History, Sculpture, Painting and Drawing. She received the Jones Family Visual Arts Scholarship (Corner Brook Regional High) and The Don Wright Memorial Scholarship (CNA), and participated in the graduating group exhibition “Process of Delineation” (CNA).

Danielle O’Conner

Danielle O'Connor is a 20-year-old creative writer from Corner Brook, NL. She is currently in her third year of studies at Memorial University's Grenfell Campus, majoring in English and minoring in French and Math. Her studies have included creative writing courses. In 2009, she won a Newfoundland and Labrador Arts and Letters Award in the Junior Prose Category for her short story "Left Out." Another two of her short stories have been published in Grenfell's creative writing journal Inkpot and a local newspaper column Rabbit Tales. She has also read selections of her writing at the past two annual April Rabbit events (a showcase for up-and-coming writers). She participated in the 2007 Canada Winter Games as a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador speed skating team.
