1. My community is interested in preserving our heritage resources. Where can I go for help?

2. Why is membership in MANL and ANLA a requirement of CEDP Heritage Operational Support?

A. MANL and ANLA are the professional organizations that represent museums, archives and heritage groups across the province. They provide a variety of services to their members, including specialized advice, training, and advocacy. They also provide members with the opportunity to network and learn from other members.
By subscribing to MANL and ANLA, heritage groups demonstrate that they are interested in being part of a larger heritage network and in availing of the services that these groups provide.

3. Can my heritage organization increase its Operational Support funding?

A. Operational Support is calculated every year based upon an organization’s operating expenses and best practices. It is also dependent on the amount of government funding available and the number of groups that apply in a given year.
However, the more Best Practices a group implements the better the possibility of increased funding. The application form contains a list of twelve best practices that was developed in consultation with the Museum Association and the Archives Association. For information on how to develop these best practices, please contact the Museum Association of Newfoundland and Labrador or the Association of Newfoundland and Labrador Archives.

4. I have an old house that I would like to get designated and restored. Who do I contact?

A. The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador is the contact for advice on designation and restoration. Legal owners of historic structures within Newfoundland and Labrador are eligible to apply for designation as a Registered Heritage Structure. The benefits of designation include provincial recognition of the structure, eligibility for grants and installation of a bronze plaque on the outside of the building to indicate its heritage significance.
