Operational support is provided to museums, archives, historical societies and historic trusts to assist in the preservation and promotion of our cultural heritage.
The budget for Operational support is divided among all eligible groups who apply for support. However, not all groups will receive the same level of funding. The amount of funding received will vary depending on the applicant’s adherence to best practices and the availability of government funds. The Department is encouraging excellence in heritage management by awarding more funding to groups who demonstrate a commitment to best practices.
Due to the demand on Operational support, starting in 2009 groups applying to CEDP for the first time will be graduated in over a three year period. This applies to any group applying for the first time, including newly formed and established groups. Groups that have not received CEDP Operational support in the past three years will also be considered as applying for the first time. This means that in Year 1, a group will receive one third of their funding, in Year 2 they will receive two thirds, and in Year 3, they receive the full amount.
For Operational support there is one granting process per year. April 1 is the firm deadline for the submission of operational support applications. Submissions received after April 1 will not be considered.
