Provincial Historic Sites of Newfoundland and Labrador
  Quidi Vidi Battery
Explore this small coastal battery which has been reconstructed to the time when it was built to ward off a possible American attack during the War of 1812-14.

Learn all about the historic military presence in the St. John’s area.

See how soldiers and their families would have lived in this isolated spot on the edge of the North Atlantic around 1812.

In the early summer you can see icebergs and whales from the ramparts.

Facilities and Services:

  • Guided tours are available.
  • There’s motorcoach parking near the site.
  • It’s just 5 minutes from Signal Hill and the historic fishing village of Quidi Vidi.
  • The site is conveniently close to major hotels, restaurants and the waterfront.
    There are no washroom facilities at this site.

Open seven days a week including weekends and holidays.

Admission:
Age 13 years and older $3.00

Group and family rates available.

This includes admission to the Commissariat House Provincial Historic Site.

Admission is free on Sunday
