The Minor Project Capital Grant Program

This grant program has been developed to:

  • Provide financial assistance for minor capital costs associated with recreation facilities and equipment
  • Assist with the rehabilitation of existing facilities

Program Goals

  • This program supports the goals and objectives of the Provincial Recreation and Sport Strategy, specifically Key Direction #6 - Infrastructure Capacity
  • Retrofit and renovate existing facilities to increase use, minimize operating costs, and improve safety and accessibility
  • View Guidelines and Application Form

Follow-up Report

  • A Final/Summary Report including financial details, relevant documentation (e.g., receipts, pictures etc.) and a description of work undertaken must be submitted to the Recreation and Sport Division upon completion of the project
  • The relevant report form will be forwarded with notification of receiving a grant

Eligible Organizations

● Municipalities ● Incorporated Recreation Commissions
● Local Service Districts ● Provincial Sport Organizations
● Community Groups ● Municipal/School Board agreement

Funding Criteria and Accountability

  • Maximum amount per project is $3,000; Minimum grant amount of $1,000
  • Financial report to the Recreation/Sport Division upon project completion
  • Submission of financial reports is required for future funding consideration

Ineligible Projects

  • Programming, Staffing, Operating
  • All Terrain Vehicle or Snowmobile Trails, Road repairs or upgrades
  • Unfenced, unsupervised or unfiltered swimming pools
  • Playgrounds not owned by a municipality or school
